Things are slowly picking up at work. Perhaps I can stay until I’m qualified to find a job in coding (by qualified, I mean kickass enough).

Speaking of coding, I’m looking forward to doing homework this week, if only because I will have a homework buddy to slog through it with me.  Plus, my teacher gave me the rest of the assignments ahead of time (as requested), so I can attempt to finish the coursework before my best friend’s wedding.

Oh! I was accepted into the certificate program, starting in January.  So that’s a go.

In other news, gay news, not gay news, my gay life news, that is… (Worst sentence ever, and I’m keeping it.)  I am so over conservative, Christian friends who can’t get over the fact that I’m gay and just accept it as a good thing.  Fuck them.  They can just take a walk and leave me out of it.  I’m not interested in being their token gay friend. I’m not interested in them working out their issues about homosexuality with me as their guinea pig.  And it always feels harsh when I communicate this to them (in gentler words, honest), but I have a duty to myself first.  Plus, I can’t kick out my family, and I already have to deal with their struggles about my gayness, so…  Ugh.

Moving on. Today is a busy day.  Actually, this whole month is busy what with homework and the wedding and all.  Not to mention I’m still trying to squeeze in dates where I can.  September will be a better month.

And the girl who gave me her number last week?  She’s involved in a pyramid scheme. Fairly certain she was trying to groom me to join. Strike one, two, and three.

So I let myself relax this weekend and got a sore throat/cold/something.  I should know better!  Anytime I’m really stressed or busy, once I relax, I get sick.  Like clockwork.  Now I have to stop at the store on the way to work for more throat drops, as I used the last one this morning. (ugh, death, dying)  I’m just hoping this passes very quickly as I’d rather not be sick for the wedding this Saturday.

Speaking of which, I got the cutest little black dress for it.  I had one already, but was worried that the bridesmaids’ dresses were fancier than mine, and I can’t be shown up as maid-of-honor, right? (And you can never have too many little black dresses.)  So I went to Macy’s and found an adorable dress.  (I paid way less than that.)  I’d like to wear it about ten zillion times I love it so much.  Hopefully it’s comfortable as it’ll be a long day in it, not to mention dancing.

Oh!  And even more good tidings for this month!  One of my good friends, that I have not seen in person in 7 years, is coming for a visit!  He’ll be here for Pride Sunday and will join my friends and I in the festivities.  Then he’ll be here until the 2nd of July.  I’ve taken that whole freaking week off.  From June 26 to June 3.  (Well, technically, we get June 3rd off for the holiday.)  I’m so entirely stoked.  I can’t remember the last time I actually took a real vacation.  Staycation.  Whatever.  Ahh!!

Oops, time to be off to work!

Oh the time, it flies.

This is the shower weekend. Today I’m going reception dress shopping in the city with my friend.  She needs something she can dance in.  (Which reminds me–I MUST start going swing dancing again. I’m supposed to help teach guests how!)  Then tomorrow, as it turns out, I have the day off from maid-of-honor responsibilities: I think my other friend and I are going to hang out–do something outside, maybe a hike?

Oooo!  Speaking of which, last weekend I spent all the money ever and purchased new hiking gear!  I got new boots, socks, liner socks (I didn’t know that was a thing), a day pack (it’s beautiful!), a first aid kit (easier than making your own), a pair of pants that turn into shorts (and are not cotton, like everything else I own), and a guide book to hikes within two hours of where I live.  I’m so ready to start hiking again.  For real!

Then, back to Sunday, it’s the shower day!  I’m still losing on coming up with good games. I’ve found a few, sort of, but I’m not sure how much I like them–the internet is failing me!  Ugh!  I was supposed to be done with this by now!  (Oh man, too many exclamation points.)

In other news, I am painting my toenails NEON PINK.  Yes, that required capital letters.  I might wear my chacos today (as will my friend).  So my toes needed to be ready to be seen by the world at large.

And finally, a note about how confusing it gets to mention more than one friend in this blog without using any distinguishing marks, but to still be able to tell that it’s separate people.
